8 ways to use Instagram Reels in your communication

The Reels, this is Instagram’s answer to Tik Tok! Faced with the enthusiasm generated by the video platform, Instagram retaliates by offering its users to create and discover videos of up to 30 seconds containing various effects to make them more fun. Music, stickers, surveys… The Instagram Reels offer new perspectives to companies who want to boost their communication, get closer to their customers and increase their notoriety.

So how do you use Reels in your Instagram marketing?

Do not put pressure on the content

You are probably saying to yourself: “another new format, we will have to find new ideas for content”. In fact, not really! You can fully use the information that you publish in stories or via IGTV, such as behind the scenes of your company, the teasing of a new product, tutorials, the promotion of your teams, educational content …

Especially since the Reels appear in your news feed. So instead of making a fixed post, you can share information in this format. Your followers will see that it’s a Reel, thanks to the icon at the top right:

The key to success is simply to provide information in a more dynamic way, in 30 seconds or less. You can also dedicate this channel to a specific type of content, which you will no longer broadcast as a story or via IGTV.

For example, your Reels could list all your tutorials. This way, your community will immediately know where to go when they need tips, DIY and advice on how to use your products.

Reuse your TikTok videos

Do you have a TikTok account and lots of great content posted on the platform? Turn them into Instagram Reels. Especially if your communities are very different from one social network to another.

The dimensions of the videos on TikTok and in Reels are exactly the same. The tones do not differ either, since we stay in the entertaining and energetic side.

For example, TopAchat reuses its TikTok content on Reels on a regular basis: Click here

Bring your content to the fore on the Explore page

With Instagram Reels, your creations now appear prominently in the Explore section. Users still see content based on what they liked or watched, but Instagram also selects performing Reels .

If you want to use this format to boost your visibility:

Bet on entertainment and emotion: the more reactions your Reel will elicit, the better it will be referenced in Explorer.
Write compelling captions using terms used by your audience. Instagram will show you to qualified users.
Tag influencers or fans who have contributed to your Reel: this usually boosts engagement … and therefore your visibility in searches.
Add hashtags: As always, on Instagram, these hashtags are useful for improving your reach.

Share your Reels in Stories

Just like your Instagram posts or IGTV videos, share your Reels in Stories. Both formats can be 30 seconds long. What makes them complementary.

You increase the exposure of your Reels and benefit from the additional features of stories. For example, you can transform your Reels into a vector of traffic, thanks to the “Swipe Up” function available as a story. If you are presenting a product/service, you will have the option to include a link to the product page!

Embed Reels on your website

Instagram offers an option to display and embed your posts on a website. This function also applies to Reels.

Just open your Reel in a desktop browser and tap the three dots at the top right. Then choose the “Embed” option and copy/paste the code into the body of your website.

This strategy is perfect for promoting your videos and presenting your Instagram account to your website visitors. The goal is to encourage them to follow you!

You can also use them to help your visitors. For example, on a product page, include a Reel that gives advice on use or shows its manufacturing process!

Encourage users to take action

Instagram allows you to add a caption to your Reels. However, users don’t necessarily read the text (unlike the posts in your feed). It is advisable to overlay your call to action within the content of the Reel. This can be an audio cue (Instagram allows you to add a voice note to your video), a visual cue, or additional text.

For example, in its Reels, Chefclub clearly invites you to download the application. We hear a voice announcement that says “for recipe details download the app”: Click here

You only have 30 seconds. So make sure you get your point across quickly.

This is essential if the goal of your video is to start a trend or challenge that other users can join in. But also if you want to encourage them to visit your website.

Reward your loyal followers

Why not “reward” loyal subscribers by offering them exclusive discounts and gifts, via the Reel

This could be a great way to promote a new product or boost a seasonal sale.

You can also use this format to advertise or organize a contest. Again, this practice allows you to reward your regular followers , while animating your Instagram page in a creative way.

For example, the jewelry brand Doriane uses the Reels to show the prizes to be won during its contests and to arouse the desire to participate: Click Here

Retarget users in your advertising campaigns

Reels give you the opportunity to capture a new audience and enrich your advertising targeting. Via the Facebook Business Manager, you can create retargeting campaigns that target users who have interacted with your Instagram account.

You can use this option to:

Generate traffic to your website, recruit new subscribers or maximize your reach with an audience that has already interacted with you. As Internet users know you and have already shown their interest in your brand, you optimize your ROI.
Create Similar Audiences: You can find users who are similar to your Reels viewers, to show them your advertisements or sponsored posts.

The Reels offer the opportunity to breathe new life into your Instagram account and bring you closer to your customers. Have fun creating short videos that incorporate catchy tunes, while sharing your brand story.
