Remove unwanted ads, pop-ups & malware on your device?

In case Some of these problems with the Chrome browser on your device, you might have unwanted Apps, and software or malware installed on your computer or mobile, laptop:

  • Pop-up ads.

  • Your Chrome Browser home page or search engine keeps changing without your permission on your device.
  • Unwanted Chrome extensions or toolbars keep coming back to your browser.
  • Your browsing is hijacked.
  • redirects to unfamiliar Websites or web pages or ads.
  • Alerts about a virus or an infected device on the chrome browser page.

Change your default ads permissions

  • To prevent sites from showing you abusive or misleading content by changing your settings.
  • Open Chrome Browser.
  • At the top right, click More in Settings.
  • Click Privacy and security > Site Settings.
  • Click Additional content settings > Ads.
  • Change the option you want as your default setting.

Android Device: Remove unwanted ads, pop-ups & malware on your Device.

Step 1: Remove problematic apps

  • On an Android phone or tablet, press and hold your device’s power button.
  • On your screen, touch and hold Power off.
  • Your device starts in safe mode. You’ll see “Safe mode” at the bottom of your screen
  • One by one, remove recently downloaded apps.
  • After each removal, restart the device normally. See whether removing that app solved the problem.
  • After you remove the app that caused the problem, you can add back the other apps that you removed.

Step 2: Protect your device from problematic apps

  • Make sure Play Protect is on.
  • Open your Android device’s Google Play Store.
  • Tap Menu Menu and then Play Protect.
  • Turn on the Scan device for security threats.

Step 3: Stop notifications from a certain website

If you’re seeing unwanted notifications from a website, then turn off the permission:

  • On your Android phone or tablet, open the Chrome app.
  • Go to a webpage.
  • To the right of the address bar, tap More More and then Info Information.
  • Tap Site settings.
  • Under “Permissions,” tap Notifications.
  • If you don’t see “Permissions” or “Notifications,” the site doesn’t have notifications turned on.
  • Turn the setting off.

iPad & iPhone: Remove unwanted ads, pop-ups & malware on your Device.

Step 1: Turn pop-ups on or off

  • On your iPhone or iPad, open the Chrome app.
  • Tap More More and then Settings.
  • Tap Content Settings and then Block Pop-ups.
  • Turn Block Pop-ups on or off.

Step 2: Allow pop-ups for a specific site

Not all pop-ups are ads or spam. Some legitimate websites display web content in pop-up windows.

  • On your iPhone or iPad, open the Chrome app.
  • Go to a page where pop-ups are blocked.
  • At the bottom, under “Pop-ups blocked,” tap Always show.

Step 2: Fix issues with pop-ups

If you’re on a page with a pop-up or dialog that won’t go away, try these steps:

  • Turn on your phone’s airplane mode.
  • Quit Google Chrome.
  • Close the tab with the bad pop-up or dialog box.
